splashback vs tiles

I wish I could fit 'em tbh

I'd like to learn but crucially not get it all wrong in my own home in such an important place!

will tiles be cheaper though!?
Tiles can be as cheap or as expensive as you want really! They should be cheaper than custom splashback purely because they are an off the shelf product fitting won't be cheap though as as you say you don't want to be the one messing it up and apoiling the finish of the kitchen!

I've got splashbacks the same material as the worktops, looks great in my opinion. Much better than tiling so worth it.
We did the same last year, ended up going full height all around, makes cleaning so much easier/quicker.

With our old kitchen which had tiled splash-backs we found the grout seemed to attract oil/mess and was a nightmare to keep clean.

A lovely kitchen, I don't mind the full height splash back under the wall cupboards but it look a bit silly on the other wall to my eye, your right though it is easy to clean!

At the last revamp (many years ago now) I bought sections of toughened glass, emulsioned the back to colour of choice and used silicon adhesive to stick it to the wall. It's still looking good and was pretty cheap.
