i`ve got the game and have installed and had trouble with it, so i was just wondering if it was worth having another go at it now there`s a patch for it . has anyone got the game and patched it yet? if so ,does it get rid of all the bugs?
sort of , but now i think the problems may have been with my card. i got an x1950 pro but i think it exposed some problems with my psu so i have now changed that for a corsair 620w psu and the system seems to run a lot better.
i haven`t re-installed scda since but i think i`ll give it another go now.
I've just downloaded the 1.01 and 1.02 patches. When I run them however I get the error, "Could not retrieve installation folder! Installation will abort."
Now is it referring to the game install folder or the location of the patch?
Turns out Splinter Cell hadn't installed itself properly. There wasn't a registry entry for the game. I should have found, 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\UBISOFT\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent' but there was no Ubisoft folder hence why the installation folder couldn't be found.
A simple reinstall fixed matters for me, though I let it install the game to the default folder and also allowed it to install DirectX even though I already had it.
Apologies btw for the McTriple post, posted in partnership with McDonalds.
