Got SC : DA today and its very good.

Broke out of prison and I am now on the training mission in the JBA compound where you need to make your way to the safe and crack it.

I'm totally lost on how to crack the safe. The direction keys seem to rotate the dials left and right and every so often 1 green light shows up below, but as soon as you move the dials again, the green light goes off.

Any advice appreciated!!!.

you need to turn them in alternate directions.

1) turn it left till all of them rotate, stop when the closest one locks
2) turn it right till all the remaining 2 rotate, stop when the middle one locks
3) turn it left again until the last one stops

by the way, your game manual will tell you this too.

what it doesn't tell you however is that sometimes when you're cracking a safe, just using the left and right buttons doesn't work, I quite often need to use down&left, down&right or something like that. Don't know if it happens for anyone else though.

Never had to use down/up for safes, but what I did find was that if you were on slowest speed the tumblers dont turn - you need to increase speed with mouse wheel first

ahh, that'll be what it was i was getting, sometimes it's worked for me with up or down though. I get all sorts of funny bugs in SCDA - most of them since I upgraded to an X2 CPU.

Yup, that happens with me too. Sometimes the up/left down/right solution doesnt work either though - there are literally no keys that will rotate the wheels. Flipping annoying when it happens too, have to keep reloading until it works.

No idea what causes it, seems to be just one of a lot of annoying bugs in the game.

try increasing the run speed, like someone said in this thread, I've not had problems getting it to work since I saw that.

there's all sorts of funny bugs though, in the Okhotsk mission, if I try and secondary fire without an attachment on your rifle, before you put the scope up, it crashes, and if I try to get the airfoil attachment, it crashes with something about sticky shockers...

seems like we who bought the PC version are paying to beta test the game.

The thing that really annoyed me no end was the fact that none of the unlocked items appear - how did beta testers miss that? You can miss system configuration problems and unexpected bugs, but how do you miss a whole feature?

i've not got to the end yet, i was just assuming they'd appear later, like you'd get equipment choices for later levels or something.

I love trying to play this game though, it's like it's got a whole load of extra silly rules and mini-games,

Extra Rules:
1) Dont try to use something that's not equiped - you'll crash to desktop
2)don't save with the minimap up - when you try to load you'll crash to desktop or crash the whole system
3)don't open safes when you've been sneaking slowly - that would be sensible
4)don't use your mouse for anything except looking around - it just wont work

Minigames:
1)If you want to change a setting, you have to find the right *.ini file and find the right setting to change, the options menu is just to look good.

I'm sure there's more I haven't found yet. I wonder how many of these I'm the only person experiencing.

Seriously though, I love it.

is this game seriously cursed?? i've played and completed all of the sc series and i love them! i've beens hearing loads of bad stuff about this one though. i dont even know if it will work on my laptop- asus a6k 1.6 turion64, 1 gb ram, nvidia 6200 256mb gfx etc. any ideas?? it plays scct on mostly high settings so surely it will work?
