I've played a couple of the Splinter Cell games but not the most recent one, however these 360 images have got me interested again, due September atm.

More new shots here.

Lets hope Ubisoft give the PC version the same full monty gfx. Should do as SC3 had ahead of its time gfx. Even now SC3 struggles to run @ high res on newer hardware with SM3.0 + full details.

Although they do look at about the level of the 360's graphics, I remember the previous SC games loving to tout pre-rendered footage as in-game, so I'll wait to see a running video or proper in-game shots before really commentating on the graphics.

I agree about the sequels never quite being as good as the first game though. I've played them all, and they're admittedly all very similar, but the original just had somethign special about it that the other two didn't. I think I played it three times through and never got bored during those, whereas the others got one cursory run and then that was it for their single-player.

Damn good multiplayer though. Hope they refine it some more for this version.

Id' be surprised if they weren't ingame shots to be honest. I mean if you're going to show something off, you're gonna do a damn good job and of course we've all seen pre-rendered screens that wipe the floor with those.

Having said that, despite it been a great game (or hopefully), I can't help but feel it's a little like Far Cry in that the graphics are a bit 'cartoony'.

Thats because they are both made by ubisoft, who imo produce the best graphics for games! As said though, all the splintercell sequels arent as a good as the first, i remember completing 1 on the original xbox when it was first released, and thought WOW! I didnt really get that with pandora 2moz and chaos theory. :)

SC3 on the PC with the right SM3.0 gfx card still looks amazing ingame. probably the best title in the series as well.

I've really enjoyed the entire Splinter Cell series. Looking forward to this one - pity its out in September now :( On the plus side, it'll probably be as polished as all the previous ones making it a very worthwhile purchase.

Hmm, says this :-

GamersReports writes: "... it has been revealed that the cinema sequences will all be real time and have a certain amount of player control. This means more than likely [the new images] are not stills from CG movie sequences."
