Is it me or is this game a bit stupid :)

I thought I'd go through the training level last just to get used to the gadgets and stuff.. I've been playing CoH for the last 2 months so I'm a bit scratchy.

So there I am, on a training level and starting to get annoyed!! On a training level!! I'm in this bright white room and SF moves around at snails pace?? What the hell is that all about then? I just wanna get on.

So I did.. I started the first level and again it appears to be in slow-mo.. I reallt wanted to do that training level.

Is this right?

The game is a terrible console port with bugs galore. Although i'm a huge fan of SC I had to put this one down after a while as it was painful to play.

I had soldiers walking into walls, camera not correctly following and turning and just general mess.

but you got the slow-mo as well.. it's not me right?

Also, i noticed it doesn't keep my custom video settings - bizarre!

Yeah this game is awful. Buggy & very sluggish even on a high end rig.

The way this game ends is so sudden as well its like is that it then you get 1 final new york level which looks about 5 years old and again is very buggy.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory was the best in the series and this is by far the worse. Its not even that it looks any better than SC3 yet it is so slow and buggy you have to wonder what went wrong and why.

The way things are going for PC games does not look good as recently most are very poor console ports, bug ridden & unoptimised.

Unless this changes the PC as a games machine is not looking too strong anymore..........

Yeah, I had a few issues with that... well you customize the settings, then restart the game and the custom tick box isnt ticked? (this is from memory and i havnt played in ages lol) Well mine did that, but it did keep my settings even though it says it hasnt lol... I take it its not the same for you lol?

This may sound daft... have you tried changing the speed SF walks at, using the mouse scroll wheel? lol... Just incase you didnt know lol.

lol no I haven't I'll give that a go.. As i said, i've not been through the training level cos it's so damn slow. :(

The buggy game ports seem to be all all coming from Ubisoft though - this anything to do with EA pushing them?

Is there a known fix or config file change so that I can change the video settings? OI'm sure the game is running in next gen mode which is slowing things down. The changes aren't being saved.

Can any one confirm is the game is supposed to run in slo-mo? or is it just becuase of the above. It runs smooth just slow.

Damn annoying or what.

Mine also runs in slow-mo.

I try to think that is how it would seem as SF is so hyped all the time, but it is so annoying when on a timed mission and you are down to the last minute or so and there he goes dawdling around soooo slowly!

ahh so i'm not the only one.. So it's not my system after all.

I am not in slo-mo any more!

A trawl through the ubisoft forums for the game told me to download the AMD dual core optimizer, so I did and installed. I also grabbed the catalyst 7.1 drivers from ATI and things are now smooth.

Good luck with yours.

makes sense.. the hardware detection is obviously picking up dual core and is threading..

However, dual core optimizer is not a good idea.. causes all sort of instability problems.
