Hi, a friend of mine installed this game last night, and went to run it, at which point it came up with the little utility to check they system was ok to run it (which it is, 8800gts, 2gig of ram etc..) but failed on drivers, so he downloaded the latest xp drivers for the gts.

After installing the drivers he is still having the same problem :(

Anyone shed any light on the matter?

Many thanks.

I wouldn't worry, it shouldn't make a difference. I fail on Drivers and DirectX version because I run Vista, doesn't stop me playing the game though.

Ok so he managed to get into the game, but once in its all messed up, here is a screenshot:

Other games run perfectly fine, any ideas?

I get that exact same problem, apparently its a problem with the gfx card not bein supported properly. Theres also no fixes or patches for the problem :( Its a common problem with all 8800's. You can check the ubisoft forums for more info if you want.

yep i have the same prob almost finnshed the game now i cant grrr
yet rainbow six vegas works fine on the card same engine as well

I had the same problem on my 8800GTS :(

Double agent is probably a good game, but very buged with poor performance even on high end systems and ubisoft couldnt even be bothered to release a patch to fix the issues.

Vegas runs on Unreal engine 3, splinter cell runs on a heavily modified unreal engine 2.5 ;)

It works on 158.15 or 158.22 under XP when you select the splinter cell double agent profile from within the nvidia control panel the gfx look fine. AA needs to be disabled though as the game cannot manage HDR + AA at the same time.
