I never tried any of the Hitman games - I assume that there is a lot of killing, don't get me wrong I have played through a lot of FPS's and killed my share of baddies but that is one of the things I like best about Thief and Splinter Cell.
You can play the games without killing anyone - the trusty blackjack to the back of the head in Theif and grabbing people and knocking them out in S/C, then obvioulsy hiding the unconcious bodies in the shadows. It makes it more fun IMHO, just walking in and killing eveyone (not that it is possible to do that in Theif) is not as much fun.
I think I pleayed through all of the games in each series (only done the demo of DA so far - waiting for the promised patch) without killing anyone that I absolutely had to. In the original S/C I definately only had one kill (right at the end of the game when you have to assassinate someone).
I still like FPS's and will shoot anything that moves but I think that these games are a different level and the 'killing' feels more intimate and therefore 'wronger'.
Anyone else play like this?
