I know this isn't exactly the lastest top game but still i brought it for my son and it just won't load...it's the new classic version and whenever i put it in the xbox
i just get the download content screen and view videos sub menu and there's
just no way to get off it or start the game?
I've tried it on someone elses xbox and it just comes up the same, the only thing in common with box consoles is that they are not connected to xbox live, do you need live to play this game?

I've gone into the settings and turned off the xbox live auto login option as well
it's all very confusing...unless there's supposed to be 2 disc's in the box because the one i've got does say "splinter cell" and then bonus at the bottom hinting that it might actually be the bonus disc and not the game.
Nothing mentioned in the manual about 2 disc's though and nothing on the ubisoft suport page about it.
And nope xbox hasn't been modded either just straight out of the box, it does this on another xbox too as mentioned earlier in the thread....console heh put disc in play game thats what should happen.
Nevermind he's got a 360 in loft for xmas should ease the pain abit :)

Very strange - you don't need Live to play any Xbox games.

Yes you do, you need to download the latest backwards compatibility patch to play some original xbox games, which I'm sure is the case here.

He has an ORIGINAL Xbox, not a 360.

Where does it say bonus? I have all 4 versions of Splinter Cell, and I'm looking at my copy of the original Splinter Cell and cant see bonus written anywhere? Or did I read your post wrong?

I don't recall it either, but he has bought the reboxed 'classic' version of splinter cell so this may have another disc included.

Ah my apologies, cos I know nout about the "classic" version. But the orig deffo only has the one CD and no mention of bonus.

Don't know much about the 'classic' version myself mate, i'm assuming it's the same sort of thing as the platinum range for the Playstation.

From my recollection, the Classic re-release includes a bonus disc which contained the Xbox Live downloadable content - Kola Cell, Vselka 1 + 2.

So providing you put in the main disc to play the game, I see no difficulty. Sounds like you could be putting in the bonus disc which might not play because that content is only for downloading to the HDD to play from the main SC disc? Can't remember as I sold my version yonks ago.

Done searches for the classic box, and the closest view I can find is on an ebay listing, and it looks like it says "Bonus" at the top, but its very hard to see.

And I think you are right about the kola cell etc addons, so if you can't find two discs, then maybe you are missing one?

The missing disc scenario now seems to be the most likely cause of the problem.

Have another look in the box, it wouldn't surprise me if it was just a one disc case and the 2nd disc was just in a crappy paper holder.

Looks like i've been tucked up then at the shop oh well i'll take a trip down and
replace it for something else.. thanks for all you input.

Yes the classic version of Splinter Cell does have 2 discs, an original and bonus disc. As I bought this saturday, as I wanted to make my xbox I bought from a well known catalogue store for £49.99 with 4 Games, which I am going to sell on Ebay to bring it down in price into a media center by installing XBMC via a softmod so I can play my music, films and stuff on the Xbox.
