Hi guys

I am calling Sky tonight to be upgraded to fiber at my parents house. The problem I have is that we have sky+HD downstairs and upstairs with both our PCs upstairs and both of these machines do not have wireless capability.

I currently have the router upstairs but I think it would make more sense to have the router downstairs so that my rents can take advantage of sky+ on demand(why don't these boxes use wireless, it really bugs me)

The reason I am upgrading is that im a core gamer, I download a lot and use 80% of our speeds at the moment. I have a power over ethanet plug which can take the connection up to my room but I need to get the connection into two rooms.

Can anyone suggest the best work around for this? I know when Sky come out to install the new router they will tell me how having the router upstairs is wrong and will cause performance loss blah blah blah.

Thanks

not sure if this is the best option, depending on speeds but have you considered wireless for the sky box? Sky Connector

Its a good idea, by using this I will still have to put the router upstairs tho and the install for the router is already costing me £50.
For some reason we have been paying £10 for the broadband, not sure why because it says our package is now £7.50 - We pay SOO much money to sky they should just give us one of these!

Add another Power Etherent adapter.

You need one for the router and one for each device you want to connect. One thin I've found is they usually need to be the same speed to work.

Add a gigabit switch after your homeplug and run a cable to the other room/Sky box as appropriate.

or

Add a wireless access point (with 4 port 100/1000 LAN) after your homeplug so the other room can connect using a wireless card/USB device.

Tealc that sounds like the best solution, well both sound like a good idea.

can you recommend a good buy? :)
