Split liquid on gpu whilst filling

Hi everyone,

So today whilst filling my new and shiny loop I managed to spill some liquid onto my graphics card. The vast majority of the liquid went straight through the case and out the back, however a small amount can be seen between the gpu and backplate and block. I haven't tried turning the pc on and am leaving it to dry until tomorrow. Should this be enough time to dry? Do I need to dismantle the whole lot and clean it that way?

It's my first loop and I'm nervous about taking it all apart and refilling it so trying to avoid that if possible. Also I was using mayhems pastel white fluid which is apparently non corrosive.

Dismantle the loop and the gpu block and recheck everything is dry before proceeding.

I'd recommend putting the setup back on air and test for a couple of days before going back to water to ensure nothing is damaged.

You'll need to dismantle the gpu block and backplate to thoroughly dry it before attempting to power up. It won't dry overnight, especially trapped under the backplate.

As it wasn't switched on at the time, you won't have damaged anything.

Paper towel will soak up most of it, then a quick blast with a hairdryer to remove any fine traces of moisture.

It might only seem like a few drops, but it's simply not worth the risk.

Hey guys, thanks for the advice. I shall take the loop apart tonight and dry the gpu out. If I've managed to get any in the pcie slot how do I go about drying that?

Just try slotting a bit of paper towel in there? Is it worth me using some compressed air as others have recommended to blow it out? And what about using alcohol to clean it off after? Is it safe to pour a small amount into the slot or is that a stupid idea?

I wouldn't add anything else to the mix.
the biggest thing with this is just time, if your not sure, wait longer.

Inserting and removing things generally cleans the pins on a slot.

How long should I leave to dry for? Is 24 hours long enough etc? Just very worried about all of this, especially since I had to leave it last night for work today

Rice is good for drying out, but if the liquid wasn't just distilled water, there could be residue left which might cause an issue.

Let your GPU dry out for a day or two, should be good to go after.

want to wait at least a few days, keep the room warm and watch for liquid trapped against covers/screws etc.

Okay, so some rice would be okay to use with it? It's based on that nano fluid stuff so unsure how much residue that leaves? I ordered one of these cleaners on recommendation of a few people https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00S7CH6FK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Will it be any good for cleaning up the gpu and pcie slot? Someone I was speaking to said it saved a motherboard from a cup of tea all in the slots so hoping it can do the same for my pcie slot and gpu

Oh and as for screws I intend on taking the backplate and block off, so just the pcb itself and no screws etc for liquid to hide under, better safe than sorry!
