Split out bass audio?

Hi All,

I've got a couple of cheapo stereo speakers which do the job but I have a guitar amp under my desk which I'd like to be able to setup to have the lower bass tones coming out of.

Is there a box I can run the audio through, strip off the bass and send to my amp?

Cheers.

You need a high pass filter, usually bundled with some subwoofers. There's a seperate box called the Outlaw ICBM-1 (I have one) It can be used in a stereo or multi-channel system which'll do what you want. I use it between pre and power amplifiers in a stereo system

If you have multiple channels output your soundcard might be able to do it, otherwise its pretty simple to make a basic circuit to split off bass - can be done with only 1x capacitor and 1x resistor per channel.

Thanks guys, I see a lot of car stereo ones for sale..

What I've thought to try for free is a splitter cable and then just turn mid/treble off on the guitar amp. If that sounds rubbish I'll do the pass filter idea.

Another thought, I'm outputting via hdmi at the moment (then 3.5mm out of monitor to speakers). Could I split the audio so mid/high comes out of hdmi and bass via line out? It's a laptop so no option of a sound card really.
