I have a monitor that has one DVI-D port and one VGA port. I have my ps3 connected to it using a dvi-d to hdmi cable. However I want to also connect my computer using dvi-d to the monitor using a splitter from the monitor to allow both to connect. Obviously only one will be displayed at a time through the monitor but I was wondering whether there'd be any other technical difficulties? Also what cable would you recommend if anyone is using a similar cable? Thanks ;)

All the cables ive found so far only seem to be designed for splitting one pcs signal to 2 monitors - would this work for my scenario?

Do you have two outputs on the graphics card? if so why not just use the vga monitor port with a DVI/vga adaptor on the card

Doesn't using a VGA port reduce either quality/resolution/frame rates? Was going to be playing some fps games (crysis) but spent too much money on my rig and can't afford a new monitor yet ;) This'll just be temporary until I get a new monitor anyway so don't want to invest in switches
