splitting internet connection between laptop and xbox 360

im looking to split my existing internet connection between a laptop and an xbox 360. obviously, i need a good enough performance to have decent enough gaming on the xbox, but also a good enough connection to browse online at the same time every now and then.

what is the best way to go about this ? please bear in mind im not looking to spend a fortune, and ideally i need to run a cable into the back of the xbox, as i dont want to pay for the extortionate xbox wireless thingy.

Get yourself a router, what type of Internet do you have; ADSL or Cable?

Router ---cable---> Xbox
---wireless--> PC

In general terms, if you get your internet via a BT telephone line you need an ADSL/ADSL2 modem router, if you have Virgin or NTL, you need a cable one
