splitting music track, how too

I have 1 long 5hr track of music, i would like to keep the file as 1 file but i want to insert points where i can jump/fast forward too, whats easiest method to do this? i have audacity and lame encoder

If its MP3 then MP3directcut nice simple and free and unlike Audacity doesn't need to convert to wave and back again thereby degrading audio
