ive never heard of a amd 3400 for socket 939, socket 754 only...
a northbridge is on the motherboard, and venice is the codename of an amd chip
overclock potential - we need more info, and even then its just a guess

as to the above post - yeah, its not very readable :s

Uh, the "northbridge" is a chip on the motherboard. Since you were talking about AMD chips, I assume you meant "Newcastle"? In which case, the Venice is a later revision with a better memory controller, uses less power, and is made on a different process (90nm instead of 130nm).

Regarding overclock potential, depends on the stepping really (the code on top of the chip).

There was one, part number ADA3400DEP4AZ. It's a 3500+ with an 800mhz HTT rather than 1000mhz.

the only 3400+ I've heard of was a socket 754 chip..

And as I stated above, there was an OEM only 3400+ on S939 with the lower 800mhz HTT speed.

can i use the 3400 at my normal mobo ?
939dual-sata asrock?

No idea. You'd probably be better off asking ASRock to be honest, I'm sure they have a support e-mail address.
