Just got this yesterday and enjoying it very much.

That is, until I reached the underground mines level in Mexic.

Just after you are "jumped" and your team mates go missing. I have a pistol and nothing else. Slotted the first couple of tangos and pinched a shotgun, but I'm finding this incredibly difficult to get through, especially considering when you are killed you are returned right back to the start of the level.

Is there a "knack" to getting through this?.

Any tips appreciated.

It took me some time to do this, but it's a reletavely short time before the next save point, so don't panic too much. After a few tries you get to know what the baddies are going to do, so just persevere. I'm at a similar bit later on, not played it for a few days cos it was getting right on my wick.

Took a good few goes to get through this, I'm contemplating running through on realistic, this is one of the parts I'm not looking forward to.

I take it you used the shotgun and not the pistol?

This bit aint that hard so your in trouble later ;)

Trick is to poke out and let them start shooting, count the 8 shots of the shotgun then pop them once with the shot gun while they are re-loading.

What you gotta remember, this game isnt your average run and shoot game. It takes time etc. Plan your moves. Im struggling a lot with it. But thats the way the game is.

use the pistol firstly much more accurate, and just take your time, try and make some noise and back away a bit so they come to you.

And if you struggle on this just wait till Dante's

I had a right old time of the casino floor in realistic. Where you have to clear the top, then have 2 or 3 waves of Tango's come down from the roof. It's an age til the checkpoint.

Loved doing it though even again and again.

Do you mean the theatre bit? Because that was a mission!!!

No the calypso casino bit at the end before and after you get to the doctor.
The last parts of this bit here http://uk.guides.ign.com/guides/815419/page_5.html

The bits they have called casino floor.

What weapons do you use?

From the guide they say use the commando 552 assault rifle. I found that too random, I use the default machine gun you start with an mp5n with rifle scope backed up with a sniper rifle 6x 12x.

I find the Mp5n accurate enough from all ranges without so much recoil.

I've used the commando for the whole game, tried different weapons but really found it just wasn't needed. Judicious use of phosphorous grenades and using your team to flank makes most situations pretty easy. On some areas where you know 10 guys will come through a shutter or rope down a c4 charge primed and waiting for them is useful.

The first level of R6 really lets the game down I feel, it's pretty much just a tutorial but it seems to go on forever, keep at it because the game gets a lot better once you hit vegas :)

Made a huge mistake at the start of Vertigo chap 4 in realistic. Started the level without a shield or smokes and you have to decend some stairs into a huge firefight. No way to go back either and re-select weapons.

Had to keep usind the help as shields, pop a couple of people the revive. Was a right old slog. Massive satisfaction when it was done though :)

Never start chapter 4 without a shield and or smokes.

Am at the theatre in Dante's and haven't used a shield yet! ;)

As for the mines, hit the first guard with the silenced pistol, then as others have said use shotgun and hit them while they reload. Make sure they don't flank you (there's one waqll iirc where they can come left & right. Just keep checking).

Later on is much harder, but you do generally have your team + all gear to try different tactics.

Great game.
