May I just disagree with that? I dont wanna play Spore, or indeed read a huge thread about it.... but being made aware of the DRM restrictions and sheer stupidity of it cant be a bad thing on a gaming forum?
That was a good video until he jumped on the "it installs rootkits in your system!" fearmongering at the end, obviously keeping with the standard of journalism Tom's Hardware is known for. Muppet.

Firstly; He was like "installing this crap in your system, rootkits rar!!" I may have paraphrased a little there, but the point stands that there wasn't even any reason to bring it up because less informed people will get all scared about ebil r00tkitz in their games now. I just hate it when people cry wolf.
Secondly; It's not a rootkit or rootkit-like, rootkits make changes to and hijack functions of your OS using admin privileges. SecuROM is within the game and it's not unlike any copy protection you may have had before, bar the activation crap which is new. People cried wolf about rootkits when Bioshock came out and it turned out to be false then, it wouldn't surprise me if it was the same people crying wolf yet again.
Frankly I'm getting annoyed with explaining this to people, stop scaring people with misinformation!
