I think this should be here but please move if it would be better elsewhere.
I wonder how many sporting events we take part in that require EU membership? Ryder cup is EU vs USA. European football championships of which there are many. I am sure there are more.
Do Brexit voters think we will be continuing and if so why should we be allowed to?

The sports competitions you mention are not for members of the European Union exclusively. They are for countries within the continent of Europe. And even then in some competitions it is very loosely applied, such as the Champions League where teams from Kazakhstan (which is majority in Asia) compete.

The confusion between Europe and the EU is one that many people have, but really shouldn't.
 
Possibly the thing which may affect sport the most is football players.

Once we leave the EU then surely the normal rules will come into play regarding players from outside the EU and having to have International clearance.

It will affect the ability of English clubs to snap up young foreign talent, but on the flip side, it might help the national team as more impetus will have to be put on bringing young English players through.
