Umm, could someone tell me the main differences between these 2...

GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC5300 667MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit

GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel Kit CAS2.5

Both being sold for the exact same price (£93.99 inc.)

Forgive me if i've missed something blindingly obvious :o

Quite a big difference then! I'm a little out of touch with the new stuff at the moment.
Although i'm still intrigued as to why they're the same price?

Why shouldn't they be the same price?

MY guess would be they cost the same for OCuk to buy.

because they are two difference technologies? one is in decline and one is on the up. Im not saying they should be different, but that's why they shouldn't necessarily be the same:)

Another example of two different technologies priced around the same is:

Western Digital Caviar Special Edition 160GB 1600JB ATA-100 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-005-WD) £36.99

Western Digital Caviar Special Edition 160GB 1600JS SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-047-WD) £35.99

Theres only a pound difference between good 'ol paralell ATA and Serial ATA (II aswel)! PATA is clearly on the decline while SATA is on the up

I've noticed that DDR memory is starting to get a bit more expensive than DDR2 now, probably because DDR will soon be on the way out.

Although the two sticks above are the same price theres a big difference in performance between PC3200 and PC5300.

pc5300 wouldnt really enhance an athlon 64s performance tho (if ddr went that high) as it doesnt need the bandwidth.

they are both the stock frequency for their relative systems so i guess thats why they are the same.

plus ddr is being phased out and is probably not in production in many places, hence the high cost

With the amount of systems running DDR, it will still be available for years to come. You can still buy PC133 memory...
