Spotify finally has coded their app to work with multitasking!!

WOOO.

Not only that but it also now supports the phones iPod controls and the earphone controls

Now all they need to do is a iPad app. I expect they are holding back until iOS4 hits the iPad in a few months. Then Spotify will rock hard.

I can't wait for my iPhone 4 to arrive so I can finally use Spotify on the move. Been a Premium subscriber for months now, and the fact it will work over 3G on my iPhone is such an added bonus!

Just remember it will eat your data over 3G. Until the networks accept people need truly unlimited 3G apps like Spotify will still be held back from true greatness.

Does that mean when you switch between apps it remembers where you were last, as the apps I've been switching between have been opening the app from scratch ? I just assumed the multi-tasking was a gimmick.

It means the music will continue to play even when you leave the app, and the iPod controls are replaces with Spotify ones when outside the app. All very, very seamless.

The apps that start again have not been updated to support multitasking yet.

There are different APIs that developers have to incorporate for the application to support multitasking:

Background audio
Voice over IP
Background location
Push notifications
Local notifications
Task finishing
Fast app switching (Simply saves the state)
