Hey guys,

About 20 mins ago my spotify wouldn't work, and I closed the program, when trying to reopen Spotify. It wouldn't work saying that the program could not be opened...

Then, I noticed my idle temps on the CPU went from roughly high 20's to the mid 30's which usually doesn't unless under load like games etc..

then around 5 mins after that my PC locked up. So I rebooted and all back to normal..

I haven't opened Spotify yet though..

First time this "crash" has happened since I got my new PC built up!

Sounds more like the application didn't close when it crashed - still consuming resources in the background. Which also seems evident when you said it couldn't be reopened.

If it does it again, kill the process from within task manager. Also ensure it's up to date, as may already be an issue fixed.

Well, just to update..

just played some long CS sessions and a good game of BF5 and there was no issue..plus I have not ran Spotify yet (been listening to music on YouTube atm :() and all has been fine. So I am 99% sure its Spotify that is problem here!!

And @Semple I had checked online etc, and im running the latest version!
