Spotify - will it work

I think it'll be moderately successful. It's a great service with a wide selection and very fast (at the moment). But I don't really see any benefit of it over using any equivalent streaming service like last.fm, pandora and deezer. The ability to fast-forward, rewind and skip isn't that much to shout about. Plus there's no Linux client yet, which puts me at a disadvantage.

The only reason I find to use a service like this is when I don't have access to my own music collection, like at work (we are using spotify at the moment). But with ipods, squeezeboxes, fast connections and all that readily available it's not really a common problem. It needs to really shine in the recommendation, profiling and community areas to win over the competitors.

I have been using this for a few days and I really like it so far. It seems to have 98% of what I search for, although I haven't conducted THAT many searches.

Music begins streaming VERY quickly and the quality IMO is pretty good, although I am not great and telling the difference between different audio samples.

The program isn't overly complicated, it is nice and simple and very easy to use. Perfect for having in the background whilst at work. It would be nice if it tied up with Last.fm as well though.

I also have invites if anybody wants them, its a great program. Only problem is that I find myself listening to stuff I have on my HDD anyway :p

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I've just come across this service and it sounds really cool. Would love an invite if anyone has any going spare?
