Hi all, I'm starting to see why I used iTunes for the past decade and having full control over my music library. I have used Spotify for 4 months, at first I liked the automation of everything, it introduced me to new music, made me listen to old stuff etc but the following is now griping me.

- Where are 'all songs' - Sometimes I just want to listen to my music, shuffling the library is something I miss massively from iTunes.
- Why can't I filter the songs via year? I wanted to listen to my music from 2002 the other day, no option..
- Play counts, why aren't there any? I like stats, not just the yearly wrap.
- Daily Mix, I used to really like these as it was new and old music out of my library, but now it just plays random music, basically replicating the discover weekly playlist.

I'm thinking of just going back to local files, I only jumped ship as I thought iTunes was ending!

Thoughts?

Spotify is a social platform. You absolutely must (it relies on it) create playlists and add to them as required. Personally, out of all the music apps, iTunes is categorically the worst, but that's for another day. I personally like the ease of Spotify. It's search capability is fantastic, even if you can only remember a lyric from a song, it will near on always return the right result. I also like its "your year/decade" feature which relives songs you listened too a lot (even at the start of the year) and may have pushed to the back of your mind or playlist.

I went back to iTunes and managing my own library and don't regret it. The smart playlists iTunes have lets me have my daily mixes and other playlists that provide a variety of music.

I know everyone dislikes iTunes, I just like the simple, minimalist design, it just does everything I need it to do. I also own an iPhone so seems logical to use it.
