Spotlight / Finder search doesn't seem to be working ....

That's what happens. "Marcel" is my home folder with very little in it (save for what is dumped there by applications). I've set it like that to show you.

It just seems to keep trying to search....without ever finding anything. It's still searching now.

I think it's since Snow Leopard upgrade.

Occasionally it *will* work, but most of the time, not. Any thoughts? Have I done something perhaps while tinkering one night (I can't think what).

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Bump. I seem to be having this problem too. Search is VERY slow and doesn't always pick up what I want (i.e. the application). I've made sure the settings for the search include apps but it's VERY slow.

You could try forcing Spotlight to rebuild its index database, the command for that in terminal is
sudo mdutil -E /

For future reference, it was actually your terminal command followed by:

sudo mdutil -i on /


That sorted my problem.

Reformat! You think it's fixed by terminal commanding sudo mdutil -i on / but only a reformat will truly fix it.
