I have a little project i will be working on shortly and i will need to covers some areas of MDF that are showing with black paint.

I would like a nice even finish so would like to use some matte black spray paint but i am unsure what to get. I have been told that PU based spray paint would work well and give a nice finish but i am not sure which ones available are PU based.

Any recomendations?

Not the answer you were after but just some recent experience from myself. I am a religious user of Bedec MSP - but never on MDF. Yesterday I painted using a Harris gloss roller some MSP onto blank MDF and got this result with just 1 coat:

Some people say yes, others say it’s paint dependent. Hence why PU paint is supposed to be good as it’s pretty much self sealing.

I have some black Matt paint I used on an old arcade cab and it did a good job. There is only a few areas that will be seen that are pretty much the edges where vinyl won’t cover.
