Anyone ever done this? I'm looking to blackify my xbox so it goes with the rest of my PC desktop but I'm a little scared of taking my xbox apart, I don't want to use one of those messy incomlpete sticker things either.

The front I will probably buy a black faceplate, will i break my xbox? :O

If I were you i would look into maybe doing some cooling mods while you have it apart. The last thing you would want is to get a rrod after all your hard work.

Don't do it.
How many people on these forums, went and modified their xbox, only to have it break down a month later and no warrentee.

Hehe, I dont know... Thats why I'm asking :P

I cant remember where but I saw somewhere was offering money off if you trade in your current Xbox. Think it was £140 discount for a premium and £100 for a core. Might be just as well doing that and having peace of mind with warranty.

Trade it in and get an Elite or risk replacing a broken 360 for more £££ sometime down the line. (Time bomb)

Might wanna take a look at stuff like this: http://www.decalgirl.com/browse.cfm/2,205.htm

Had one for the original Xbox, was pretty good got annoying after a while but it was pretty decent.
Thanks for the link, I see they have a complete replacememt black case there, I've considered getting an elite but its just not worth it for a black case... Which would be the only reason I would be buying it.

I don't see the harm in spraying your Xbox 360 black (just as long as you make sure you cover the air vents to stop any paint getting in - pretty obvious really).

The only downside is if your 360 dies and you send it off to be repaired and get a replacement back, all your hard work is lost.

Think I might give the case replacement a try and hmm, might actually be a geek and get some decals on it too >.<' just have to see how easy/difficult it is to fit said case.

That looks cool, that’s what I would get... completly replaces the old one so no hard to fit decels etc...

Also, RuMp3l4$k1n I love SAC man, Standalone Complex Rocks!!! Bring on Solid State Society :)

:) You have reminded me I need to Preorder that, not long till release. :D

Skyfall if you go for either method a review/report back to us would be cool.

surely replacing a case is more difficult that fitting decals!!!

I found a black replacement case on the auction site, I've sent a question to see if he can tell me how difficult it actually is, I don't mind it taking a little while to do as long as I don't snap something lol

I'd recommend taking the sucker apart first mate. Its dead easy, if you can open a box you can open a 360 :p. If you have any pc building skills you'll feel right at home.

I modded mine to a clear case along with some other bits just for poops and giggles. Admittedly, the sucker broke about 2 weeks later, but hey its a time bomb anyway the mod didnt cause the death and I'd already voided the warrenty a long long time ago. Its up and running fine now though with an x-clamp replacement, and i think more reliable than ever!

Go for it :D . I'd recommend reading some 360 disassembly guides (iirc the anandtech one is about the best) and have a tinker. Its dead easy, the hardest part is letting yourself do it!

Not really, all it takes is a really thin screw driver and popping a few tabs. It's far easier than aligning decals and removing bubbles from them.

I've thought about getting decals for my 360 for a while, anyone else done it? is it worth it?

I know a friend who put gears of war decals on his, I have not seen it in real life but he's never complained about it and he says it looks really good.
