my warranty is about up on my 360 and im too tight to buy an elite. So im thinking of spraying mine black. Looked at a guide for getting the case off and seems fairly straight forward. so just want some advice on spraying the actual plastic.

what paint to use? does it need priming? does it need sanding off? does it need laquering? etc etc

any advice and help will be greatly appreciated thanks

A quick google search came up with this.

most auto stores have suitable spray paint just don't get enamel as it will eat the plastic.
You need:

grey primer
light sandpaper
and your selected colour

lightly sand case this ensures paint will stick
wash with small amount of water and detergent
then rinse and dry
spray primer in light coat 30 cm away, don't need to cover it first coat
then leave for 20 mins and spray second coat till covered leave 2 hrs
the repeat for your spray paint (read can directions for second coat times).

good luck mate

One thing I would add is to make sure you use a fine - medium sandpaper otherwise you will see the marks left from sanding even after spraying. You really just need to finely sand the surface to enable the primer to stick to the plastic preperly.

How much do you have to sand it down?

I have two Xbox's, one out of warranty, so quite fancy spraying it. I assume using a simple stencil you could put some patterns/designs on it?

Not much at all. You just need to lightly sand it so that it creates a slightly rougher surface to enable the paint to stick better. Just a quick going over with a medium fine paper should be enough.

Cokecan did his, looks lovely in the flesh:

Got bored a few months ago so sprayed my xbox :p (btw it's an old core system thats waaaaay out of warranty. not an elite)
