Behind you... Naked!
My daughter has just presented me with a small problem that I am actually stuck with.

She has been working on her colledge assignment and there is weeks worth of work on a spread sheet, but what she has done, is everything is kind of the wrong way round... It should not make a difference I know, but her tutor has told her that she has to change it...

We have basically doen everything with our items in columns and the contents in rows, when we have to do our items in rows and the contents in columns.

Is there a simple way to swap them over?

Im a ta a complete loss in all honesty, but it does seem to be, that she has to enter the information all in all over again and there are dozens of calculations and so on.... It would be a hellish task for her to do this.

Please give me some good news on this one.

This is easy if you happen to be using OpenOffice. From "Help":
  1. Select the cell range that you want to transpose.
  2. Choose Edit - Cut.
  3. Click the cell that is to be the top left cell in the result.
  4. Choose Edit - Paste Special.
  5. In the dialogue box, mark Paste all and Transpose.
  6. Click OK and the transposed columns and rows will be pasted onto your spreadsheet.
What's more, OpenOffice is FREE and it can work with Excel spreadsheets!

Well, the spreadsheet that she has, is Libre Office and thats cos she prefers Linux ( thats my girl ) so I will try that for sure yes, but even so, we can import / export to / from Excel if need be of course.

Thanks.

Addition.... I also have Libre on my Machine and I just went and tried it and sure enough there is a transpose in there too!

Many thanks mate... It works as you said, so we will work on that tomorrow. Thank you once again.
