Always a good day out these action days, and the weather looks like it's going to be great too. I'm on a small stand with few others, got a track session booked for 11:00am.

Any other OcUKers going?

I might pop along to have a look around Ben, any chance of a pax ride or will I kill the power to weight ratio? :p

Neil.

Yep, i'm going to be there on the uksaabs stand and out on track at 12:45.

I've got to be honest Neil I do prefer to do track sessions on my own (especially if I only have one session), I just feel more 'in the zone' when it's just me and the car (as cheesy as that sounds). If I get tempted by another session on the day though you are welcome to a p-ride :)

No problem mate, it's this or an open day at Nitron. The later could end up proving very costly!

Neil.

I might be there, just finished my final year dissertation so i'm finally free! But, my rear O/S caliper is sticking :(. Hopefully my housemate will drive us in his dagadaga supreme, assuming the weathers good.

Well it was a brilliant day again, didn't start too great though as my car kept dying when waiting in the not-inconsiderable queue to get in. My carbs really don't like being sat in traffic getting hot, fuel-evaporation was a major PITA. Finally got in though, and it was a great variety of cars and stalls as usual.

Went out for my track session at 11:00, and the car was performing brilliantly, the carbs are fantastic on track, nice and responsive with lots of midrange grunt to pull me out of the bends. Talking of bends, the coilovers have made a world of difference, the thing handles absolutely brilliantly and was punching well above it's weight. On paper my car should have been the slowest on my session (various stupid quick Evos and Scoobies) but it held it's own brilliantly. My friend was out on the same session in his 'stage 1' Glanza (160bhp/155lbft) and I was all over him in the corners, and nothing between us on the straights. I managed to overtake him when coming out of the the second set of S's (the bobbies) because I carried a lot more speed through them. By the second lap I reeled in a Bugeye scoob (he was clearly a track virgin), I was much quicker though the bends so he yielded and I passed him fairly easily.

Unfortunately on the third lap my Kumhos seem to just 'melt' and turn to mush. It took me by surprise because it didn't happen last year, but this year with the coilovers and new engine I was asking much more of the tyres and they just seemed to have overheated and started to feel really greasy and mushy (and contributed to a big sideways moment at quarry :D ), very disappointing as I've always rated these tyres on the road. Anyway at that point I noticed my coolant light flashing so I slowed down and left the track. It didn't overheat as there was still some coolant left, but the level in the header tank had dropped down enough to trigger the warning light, turns out a hose was split. Quick and easy temp fix to get me home, but I'll get a complete replacement hose to sort it properly.

All in all though a great couple of laps, the car was fantastic. I had a camera on my rollcage recording the session, but when I went to veiw the video on my comp it appears to be corrupt... FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!??!!!!!!?!?!!!

Sounds great, DreXeL. Hope you get the video sorted. Did you get the any pics from the track photographers?

I missed your track session, drexel. Had my head in the footwell of a 93 with my laptop trying to get the map off it via canbus. This then made me miss the drivers briefing i wanted, so i was very tight on time. Still managed to get out for the saab session. Spent most of this last week live mapping the car to improve boost control. Made a hell of a difference, much faster than last September. (iffy stage 1 to live mapped stage 3, neigh on 60hp difference)

Just one picture from the gallery.

Those pics give you a pretty good idea how flat it stays in corners. Those coilovers are incredible value for money, they worked brilliantly on track.
