Time to put the gloves on and reach for the lubricant.

So far I've heard wine will be going up 45p but also they're increasing the lifetime allowance for pension pots before having to pay tax (assume this will benefit the few rather than the many).

There's help for childcare costs which is good, but we still remain one of the most expensive in the developed world for childcare costs.

I wonder what horrors they'll leave on the doorstep of the next government. Any predictions?

pension thing is good, was worried about going over the limit, especially with it being so hard to predict that far in the future even the best attempt to plan isn't good enough.

Edit: and choosing between risking pension contributions or definitely getting shafted on tax isn't a good choice.

All the pension news is going to do is divide society again between the people fortunate enough to be able to exceed the current level and the unfortunate ones who can only dream of earning that much at all, let alone beine able to save that amount.

Politics 101 - divide and conquer. Let the masses fight within themselves and the corrupt politicians can go about their crap unencumbered

My expert opinion:

blah blah blah fiscal rules driving down debt blah blah positioning us to take advantage of Brexit blah blah highest number of blue cars owned in Europe blah everything else that has been flagpoled over the last week.

We are the Party of fiscal responsbility (he says kicking Truss' leaving card under a chair lest we remember)

I predict that the things we need to get the economy moving long term won't happen, for example:

- Kill the triple lock
- Reform the planning system
- Stop lying to ourselves about magic trade deals to replace the fallout from br*xit

Reform the planning system is just code for building all over the countryside isn't it..

I feel it too. It’s made getting any promotions a waste of time since most of my graft will end up with the government. I’ll sit tight and put my feet up instead, screw them.

Edit: I wouldn’t mind if I could see the product of the money being spent, but when I look at the lack of services, rotting NHS, crumbling roads I just give up with the whole system.

Its not about what you earn or save - its how big your pension pot can get before its subject to tax. Many, many people can achieve a pot of £1m if they work all their adult lives and especially if they stay with the same company for the majority. Surrender values prior to the pandemic were going crazy - I should know - I took mine.
