Finaly decided to give my computer a clean up and sort out.

I originally was just going to open it up and spray some compressed air in it...

Well five hours later and I'm done! Ended up completely striping it, cleaning all the components with a paint brush and rebuilding it! And I'm please with the improvement.

I always had crap temps before, and put it down to the case... turns out I put the CPU fan on back to front  that combined with a bit of decent cable management and my temps have droped about 8degC :D

I also fitted an Akasa rubber kit to the fans and drives and man it sounds like a new computer, it was really noisy before, but now the loudest thing is the hard drives churning away (could't even notice them before)!

Plenty of room in there for a new 4870 or 90 now me thinks! ;)

that reminds me i have to do the same, i like to do it every 3 months or so, also want to spring clean my hdd's and remove all the rubbish that has built up over the past couple of months. Do you have any before and after pics?

Wow that's a big improvement, I know all of those are things I could benefit a lot from as well so thanks for the ideas :) particularly the rubber kit

I used a fan the wrong way around on a true for ages. Noticed my temperatures were worse than other peoples and put it down to bad luck. Only found the error when experimenting with push-pull

Paint brush is a good idea, I think I will locate one. Summer is a good time to clean a computer
