Driving along today, went over a speed bump (not a bad one, near stoke station if you know the area). Heard a bang and the a knocking noise. Pulled over but couldent see anything wrong but i was at uni all afternoon so dropped car off at garage.

He recons a spring may of snapped but he will have a good look for me. Sound about right? and if so any ideas on cost :(

What car is it? A new pair of front springs for my Sierra was in the region of £30 IIRC. Easy job too.

Just get another pair of front shocks off any other Mondeo.

Piece of piddle to change if they're a complete unit. At least they were on my Rover :) I replaced my standard units for uprated/lowered units in about 30 minutes each side.

If it's a Mondeo then a broken spring is quite likely. Ford appear to have used twisty breadsticks instead of spring steel to cut costs.
