Garage says its about £150 all in for the replacement. Happened as I was pulling away from my parking space, huge bang followed by tons of grinding.

When replacing springs (or any suspension component in fact) I always replace in pairs. Is £150 for both sides?

The price is too high. Mine snapped on my mk3 mondeo and it cost me £75 to replace. About 30 for part and rest for labour I think it was.

As for that Avon tyre comment. The guy drives a fiesta. It's not like he needs super sport tyres on. Avon aren't like linglong or something. Some people just use budget brands. Don't be such a snob.

Was going to ask if it's a Ford. Common issue it would seem but Ford will deny any responsibility for either manufacturing or design issue.

I agree, had them on my ST due to necessity. They're not the greatest tyre but far from the worst I've had!

Since when was Avon even a 'budget brand' anyway? If it is, then someone ought to tell the tyre shops we've been talking to about dropping the price somewhat on whitewalled Turbosteels....

My GF's Fiesta did the same last year, thankfully just as she was pulling onto a roundabout - 30 seconds later and she'd have been doing 70 on the dual carriageway!

New spring was no more than about £30, and it took me about an hour or so to swap it out.
