Sproing!

Ok, this is a VERY strange problem.

My new rig makes this strange noise every now and then. When I'm sitting playing Medieval II occasionaly I will hear a relatively loud SPROING! sound coming from the front of my case (where the HDD is), afterwards I'll hear something whirring up for a few seconds.

I didn't think much of it at first, but I now realise that it's doing "something" to my system. When I was playing Medieval, the SPROING sound manifested itself, and I lost sound for a couple of seconds.

Any ideas on what it could be?

It's definately coming from the HDD, as it was happening before I bought my nice shiny new opticals. I will try the diagnostics in a few moments, but it's now looking like I'll have to RMA yet ANOTHER piece of hardware (1/3 of my components were fualty). And the worst part is, I can't even do it through OCUK because it's been more than 28 days since purchase

12% 5 hours to go. No errors as of yet, but I've heard the "SPROING!" sound a few times.

I get loads of errors. Ah well...Time to get that sucker RMA'd.
