Driving back from the pub today (no I didn't drink anything!) after watching the rugby, I was coming round one of the last corners before my house, a fairly wide turn, at about 25-30mph when I lost it into a skid and ended up in the middle of the road, perpendicular to the kerb. Luckily nothing was coming in either direction. Completely mistook the conditions as the road was pretty greasy after the first rain in a while here but the lack of grip really surprised me, especially since I drive a FWD car. Do you reckon it's worth getting the tyres checked out?

Only been driving a couple of months but you live and learn! I'll be much more careful in future, shook me up a bit.

Let me guess...

You were going a bit quick and lifted off mid corner following some understeer due to the rain? Either that, or you hit some diesel or other crap...

Good thing that nobody was hurt and you have learned how not to behave mid-corner :D How was the adrenaline?

I'd go for the understeer theory, although the surface on that corner is a bit tetchy even in the dry.

The adrenaline was definitely flowing, though.

you got off verry lightly like one or two other on hear. i was much more unfortunate and someone was coming the other way:( learn your lesson.
and you can cherck your tryes yourself go to a petrol station with an air line if there anywer enear 30 psi then there at least ok but might not be right for your car what ever i just have 30 in all 4 tyres.

Tyre pressures are fine, just wondering if the car was previously fitted with crappy rubber by the last owner (only had the car half a year). Will have a check in the morning.

Luckily the bend has very good visibility, if there's someone coming the other way I'm always much more careful.
