Spybot and handling older spyware

Way back when I first started using Spybot it only looked for a few thousand items, many of which have expired or are not in circulation any more, but are still on its list of threats. Because it now checks for 44,000+ items it can be particularly labouring watching it fight its way through that lot on an older computer.

Is there a way to disable checking for items from say before 2004 which may drop off about 15-20,000 items that aren't about any more? I might be bein short sighted but can't spot anything in the settings.

No it'll scan for them all, also just cause they are old doesn't mean they are gone from the tinternet.

That's true but there is stuff I haven't seen for years and years and years now like most of the early Bonzi Buddy and CWS, which takes up a lot of the scan time on an older computer.
