Hi,

I'm running AVG antispyware along with a-squared anti malware and I've got a problem with the scans that I do. They get so far through the scan and they just freeze (although the program can still be closed down or paused) I used to have zonealarm free firewall which i read caused a problem. I've removed that and now using comodo firewall but the problem still occurs.

I've read online to go into the c:system volume information directory and delete everything in there which i have but now the files the scans get stuck on are c:services.log and the c:recycler - a file in there. how can i get rid of this error and my scans to run to the end?

When i go into safe mode I can run the scans fully (did a-squared and avg antispyware last night) but they dont find any problems with any spy or malware. its definately something else when windows is running properly but I cant find out what

its an entirely new build so just been installing all my gubbins from my laptop onto the new desktop. so yes, a lot of new software and well the initial hardware set up as well

I've still not been able to resolve this issue yet. I had a check in the registry and seen that there is still left over entries for zonealarm and the pop up blocker. Is it possible that I can remove all remains of zonealarm from the registry to solve it but without messing up the pc?
