Hi all,

Ive have been trying to sort out a Trojan and spyware problem on a friend’s computer. Ive managed to get rid of some of the rubbish that was installed, weather monitors etc. I downloaded Microsoft spyware but it didn’t find anything, MacAfee says that a Trojan called puper.dll has been deleted and cleaned, but every time I restart it says it again. IE has become hijacked and I can’t seem to get rid of the homepage rubbish. Ive downloaded Adware SE – personal to see if that will do anything Anyone have recommendations? Apart from a format :E

Sometimes if it is a few "infections" then spybot, adaware, spyblaster etc will clean it up OK for you. My aunties machine was heavily infected, so we reformatted and installed an up to date Internet security package. I installed spybot for her and gave her a few tips on protection and sensible surfing. No problems now. What do you think is best? :)

Well he has the latest Mcafee Security Center 2006 , and they have all passed the "Security" i shall download spybot and see also what happends. do they get rid of IE hijackers also?

A lot of these mal/spyware/dialers come in as .exe files and execute leaving there traces in windows or system32 or registry or all. When you delete these .dll's etc and re-boot the .exe ...................executes and the process starts all over again. Do a search on your drive for *.exe [wild cards]and see what shows up and as dunc has sugested , scan in safe mode. Some of these nastys can be difficult to get rid of as well as find ...............that's the way they've been designed.
