Spyware Virus... help

right today i got a popup message from my icon tray saying:

Your computer is infected!

critical system error, system detected virus activities.

they may cause critical system failure.

Please use animalware software to clean and protect your system from parasite programs. click here to get all available softare

when i click it, it loads a web page where it does a free spyware check - detects 40 spyware programs on my computer and then tells me i need to pay $49.99 to get the software to delete them !


anyone know how i can get rid of this... obviously i aint paying the 50 dollars!

iv had spyware before but not like this

any help much appreciated

ok im downloading them now

tried running my mcafee spyware detecter and they cant even pick them up

p.s. best to use "well known and proven anti malware products such as adaware, spybot, hijackthis Microsoft defender and ewido

yes, when i click the message it takes me to the spywarequake webpage!!
