Hi. What is the general opinion of SpywareDoctor? A friend has told me he is having problems with it after purchasing it.

I haven't heard of it before and don't quite understand why he would pay for such a product when the likes of Spybot and Avast are free.

It is quite well regarded in some circles - as a antispyware app its considered one of the best if the reviews are to be believed. I certainly wouldn't pay for it though.

Spybot and Malwarebytes is what I use, very good software.

Haven’t used it in a long time, was a decent Antispyware but not one I would recommend, was quite heavy on the system resources slowed startup time etc and generated quite a few false positives

may have improved since then

Would recommend Super Antispyware as my choice of A/S app

Spyware Doctor used to be Free and used to be very good, although it did seem to slow boot up times and slow the machine down when in use. I stopped using it when they started making you pay for it, which was way over a year ago iirc.

never heard of it, can't be bothered to google it, but loads of the 'payware' ones are them selves, spyware

I agree Spybot and Malwarebytes are a good combo.

It's been out for years. Tho personally I'd look at CounterSpy if I was going to pay for an antispyware.
