No surprises there really. We'll get battered regardless of who plays although i am really looking forward to Wilshere doing the business. Are those really the only right backs we have?....

There isn't anyone which is kind of my point. I'm not taken with either of their defensive ability.
Johnson had a stinker last night but he's had another excellent season overall and has probably been our most consistent player, excluding Suarez. No idea how well he's going to have to play for people to change their perceptions of him :(

Yep pretty retarded, been like this since he signed. Who cares as long as he performs for us the way he does :)

I thought he was good at Euro 2012 so i don't understand the criticism either and im a chelsea fan.

Alternatives are Kyle Walker and Micah Richards ....other countires have it far far worse for that position

Hopefully Jagielka gets a run in the side as he has been great over the past couple of years and IMO is arguably the best English CB now.

Hasn't Jones played more of a midfield role this season as well as being injured? He was never going to replace Lescott.

He's played CB and RB more than he has midfield (AFAICR he's only started in midfield in the recent game against Spurs) but yeah he's missed most of the season through injury (as has Smalling tbh yet he has made the squad). The only Man Utd defender who should really be there is Ferdinand but his days of playing for England are clearly over

Tbh it's not really worth picking a team from the announced squad, by the time you account for the various players' mystery thigh strains picked up on the way to the dressing room after playing 90 minutes on Saturday and back strains from sneezing too hard who knows what the actual starting leftovers will look like :p
