Squeaky 7900GTO

Hi, my MSI 7900GTO makes a funny squeaking noise when i'm running games etc. It is as if the fan needs oiled - the noise it is making.

Anyone else experiencing this? It is in an antec solo case and its the only thing i can hear from the case apart from the exhaust fan.


Can't think of anything I could do to reduce this noise/

have you it overclocked?

if it only happens when playin games, first thing that springs to mind is the CAPS... dont quote me on that but its common on some other nvidia cards - like my 6800nu.

stick your finger on the fan to stop if, only for a second or 2! see if the noise goes away

ok i'll try that when i get home.

is the noise bad news? or just the noise it will make? its not a problem as the game noise drowns it out, was just wondering if it is something going wrong.

not overclocked, although i plan to soon.

i dont know if it is bad news or not, just a bit irritating thats all.

i should be getting a 7900GTO soon myself, OcUK cant tell me the amount of stock they have but say there is enough left for a high demand knowing my luck i wont get one.

let me know how good the OC is.

EDIT: forgot to mention, if the fan stops spinning when you take your finger off, just give it a flick with your finger to get it going again
