My 306 squeaks quite a lot, it seems to be coming from the engine pulleys, and a lot more noticeable at idle than revving. Is it a simple case of oiling the pulleys or is there more to it than this?

Check the belt tension.

Push down on each belt (when the engine is off of course) to see how tight they are.

Under normal tension, they should flex about 1/2" inch. Anymore and I'd say they're too lose and thus are slipping.

Does it go away when revved?

Yes when revved it does not sqeak, mainly idle and the low revs its audible, it's going for a service in a few weeks so that should fix it, until then would oil help or not?
