When I accelerate there is a squeeking noise on the engine this goes after a bit of acceleration but then comes back when i need to accelerate again, could this be the cambelt needing changing

I hope it's not the cam belt squeaking. It's possible that it's a cam belt tensioner or something though.

Is it only under acceleration? Constant or at certain revs?

The info you have given is really quite poor and would be hard to recommend anything.

hi it is more than likely that it is the fan belt slipping have it checked for tightness ,you may have to replace it as the surface gets polished as it slips and squeal's under load , the timing belt does not squeal as this is toothed and must not slip as this would cause the timing to slip and affect the performance of the engine , a lot of modern cars use automatic tensioners for the fan belt so you may have to change the belt

Only happens under acceleration and it goes away when I get to certain revs afaik.

Car is a Ford Focus 2002.

Im unsure what that sounds like so im not sure, all I know is it happens I think at low revs and then disappears as the revs get higher. Only noticed it today :(

i get this on my fiesta mk6, listening to engine and its defo coming from alternator... as i put more load on it (heated windows) it gets louder too.

could you try that? (more load)
