SR203/SR204 Sky Hub keeps dropping internet – DHCP/NAT issues

Hi all,

I’m having repeated problems with my Sky Hub (SR203/SR204). Devices connect to Wi-Fi but lose internet after 30 minutes or so. Some apps stop working unless I switch to 4G. My work laptop only connects reliably via a Wi-Fi extender.

What I’ve tried so far:
  • Full 3–minute power-off and resets
  • Disabling IPv6
  • Setting manual DNS (8.8.8.8)
  • Disconnecting extender to test
  • Multiple factory resets
I’ve had to replace this router roughly every year due to similar issues, and while I’m trying to make progress with Sky this time, it’s proving difficult.

It seems like the router is struggling with DHCP/NAT under multiple devices, especially with laptops and extenders connected.

Has anyone else experienced this with SR203/SR204? Any advice on workarounds to stabilize the network or tips for getting a reliable replacement would be appreciated.

Could anyone possibly provide a quick comment on here? Feeling pretty stuck!

I've just replaced mine. It was the worst router I've ever had.....by a long way!

Check the usual sites, picked up a triband asus for just over £100

Thanks Glen, I presume that is compatible and Sky won’t kick up a fuss? I’ve read they are pretty tight on it, and you need a router that supports option 61?

I’m loathe to spend £100 on fixing their problem but my contract is nowhere near coming to an end, and it might just be the least problematic way to solve this long term.
