On the PC there must be 1000 game pads, so a game must work with as many as possible.
The 360 has one pad, so the game can be tailored to respond as best as possible to the one pad.
Just the way I see it, why you usually feel more 'connected' to a platformer on a console than on the PC, your movements relate better due to the controller and the game being made to work together well.
How I think about the consoles input anyway.

I didnt quite catch Kreeee, but he made his point to me on MSN, the Dpad on the 360 does suck, and I can see the trouble that it will have playing old style fast paced games.
I play SFII on the PC with the wired 360 pad. It's apalling compared to my SNES pad.
