Sry another cpu upgrade topic

I'm considering getting a x2 3800 because a mate of mine wants to buy my cpu for his media centre. Should i just get the 3800 and overclock it or shell out an extra £90 for a 4400?

I'll mostly be using my rig for gaming, so would the higher cache make a diff?

Go for the 3800 x2 and have fun overclocking it. Other option would be an opetron 165. The 165 has the extra cache but only has a 9 multi. It would need a good overclocking board to get the most from it.

Thanks for the reply, i've looked at reviews on the 3800 and most of them seem to get to 2.4ghz, is the opteron 165 a good overclocker then? I see you're at 2.47 what vcore and cooling are you using?

Well i bought a 4400 second hand which clocks at 2.6-2.8 now. Got it for a good price.. And i didn't back out of the other transaction at the same time..so i'm getting 2 x 4400's! >.<
