Ok so the US Firm Odssey marine Have found her, article can be found here.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15061868

It's nice that shes been found so family can have closure etc, but the fact that there willing to bring up the cargo. I thought as the Ship was opperating as part of the merchant navy and had British military service personnell aboard who were lost and was sunk by enermy activity, that it would be covered like military wrecks as a war grave and people would be arrested for disturbing it??
Or is it just the value of the cargo people are intressted in.

They can do it with permission, which they have.
That must mean new series on discovery soon, it's always interesting.

Why does the sunken Navy ship deserve protection under the "protection Of Military Remains Act" whilst the merchant navy doesnt??
More Merchant navy sailors lost there lifes serving this country than navy, yet they don't get the respect or honour that the crew of warships get?? How hypocritical is that, if it wasn't for the merchant navy britian would have been lost very early.

According to Lloyds War Losses, the USA lost 568 Merchant ships sunk during WWII. Britain lost 2,952 sunk. and only 1 is protected under the war graves act....

suppose money over people comes into it.

Where do you draw the line though - a generation? 5 generations?

We're not adverse to digging up a few Romans, nor indeed a few Tudors, in this country.

I'm Just claiming that the all the forces, other than the military personnel get the same recongisation and treated with the same level of honour as the Dead military men, they al gave their lives for the same cause yet some are deemned more valuable than others.
The same issue can be seen all through ww2 and its after marth, just look at the bevin boys consripted and forced down the mines, where they were called cowards and had just as high a chance of dieing as the soldiers. Yet they got no thanks till 2007...
