I have a crucial m4 ssd and need to update firmware from 0009 to 0309.
I am doing it from a dvd but not sure the correct procedure.

Also I use my ssd for intel smart response and therfore it is in raid mode, would I have to change the sata mode before updating?

I have looked on crucials website and it asks for the ssd being used. there are two options in the 2.5 m4 ssd's but i don't know wich one to chose as one is 7mm and the other 9.5mm. I've checked on my ssd's box but it just says m4 ssd 2.5 so which one do I chose or doesn't it matter?

Thanks for reading.

Heya,

Mine was on 0009 and a m8 noticed the new fw 0309

I have only recently turned to usb's for bios's etc so trusted the older cd way for my first ssd fw flash hehe

I dl'ed the correct fw option

Also the pdf howto to be sure

Burned the fw as pdf/instructions said to cd

Then with cd/or i guess usb in ............

I rebooted and went into the bios, set in my case the initial booter as my burner, hdd next

Exited bios and on reboot the cd kicked in

Simply had to type something in as it was on screen, off the fw update went

After it said to check that the newer version number (0309) was showing, if it was then a reboot was needed and voila all was sorted

I'd guess if the update didn't work you obviously wouldn't shut power off

Not as bad as it sounds, deffo easier than old mobo bios flashing and gpu flashing

Hope it helps

That's great, doesn't sound difficult, all I need to do now is find out what this 7mm and 9.5mm is so as to make sure I am using the right firmware.

Can anyone through any light on this. here is a link asking to choose a product, please click on it and you'll see the 7mm and 9.5mm option but I can't find anything on my ssd saying wich one I should be using.

Thanks.
