Seen a few videos on youtube of people using an SSD for the OS and a hard drive for mass storage and seen that it helps with start up and various other processes. Is it worth paying the extra money to get the SSD and hard drive and does it really make a difference or should i just stick with the hard drive doing all the work ?

Im building a new system, i think you posted on my post earlier about building my new system. How do i go about setting it up so the SSD is the OS and the hard drive is for storage ?

So I did. Well if you can afford an SSD on top of that system go for it!

When you install Windows, have just the SSD installed. Then add the HDD later on, with windows 7 you have libraries such as 'documents' and 'music' you can easily change the location of these to the HDD instead of the SSD. If you run out of space on the SSD, you can install programs on the HDD by changing the install path when you install them.

As far as which SSD, the M4 is fast and reliable:

and on offer today only [well yesterday] so you'd have to order fast to get it at that [very good] price :)

If you can't stretch that far, a 64GB will be enough for Windows and a few games:

I must say, I am half sceptical about SSDs, despite owning one. I don't think you miss them if you don't have them. But oh my god. Now I have one, I couldn't go back...

Especially when having to install things, that 'you need to restart your computer' message is so much nicer when you know that it now would take you longer to get up, leave your room, and walk back into it then it does to restart your PC...

Bliss :)

Having owned both a 60 and 120, I would recommend saving up for the 120. It just saves you being constantly wary about how much space you're using.

Yeah ill have to wait till next pay day if I'm going to get the 120 instead of the 60 but I'm sure it will be worth the extra money if there as good as you say.

+1

thats so true,120gb is ideal,60gb just scrapes it space wise, and yeah who needs sleep when you have an ssd,its quicker to turn off/turn on again
